1. Identifies National Economic Interest
as National Economic Welfare
2. Concludes that the level of National Economic Welfare in the UK is
currently either the same or a little lower than in the whole Eurozone.
3. Assesses in detail the arguments for and against 'one size fits all'
in respect of interest rates, with special reference to both the UK
economy and the past and prospective relative performances of the ECB
and the MPC.
4. Makes precise calculations the exchange-rate configuration, both
Pound/Euro and Dollar/ Euro which would represent economically satisfactory
entry conditions, and shows that these conditions actually exist in
May 2003.
